New laws for 2024
Gender affirming care
As of July 1, 2024, a new Idaho state law (Idaho Code §18-8901) regarding the use of public funds for gender transition procedures. This new law prohibits transgender adults and minors enrolled in the Idaho Medicaid program from receiving gender-affirming medications or procedures. Specifically, the Idaho Medicaid program will not cover hormone therapy, puberty blockers, or surgical procedures for the purpose to affirm the individual’s gender identity of their sex. Self-pay and the Heritage Health sliding fee schedule remain options for this care. Please work with our clinics to navigate coverage options that are available.
